Unlike basketball or football, in soccer a ball that touches the sideline is NOT out. The ball must completely cross the sideline to be out.
The above applies for goals too. The ball must entirely cross the goal line to be a goal.
Also unlike basketball and football, the location of a player’s feet is irrelevant; players can step on or outside the sideline. All that matters is the ball’s location.
Note: In soccer, the sideline is called the “touch line”. The line along the goal is called the “goal line”.
